Hospitals that accept federal money must provide a certain amount of free or reduced fee care. Be sure to check with the hospital's financial aid department to see if you qualify for any reduced or charity care. If you need help ask to speak with a caseworker at the hospital. A caseworker or social worker are sometimes assigned by your hospital (though you may have to ask for one). They can help assist you in managing you or your family member's needs.
